From sash to tilt-and-turn

Many houses in the centre of Leiden still have old sash windows, with counterweights inside the frame. We can take them out, repair them and make them run smoothly again. It takes a day per window, but then you have windows that open and close again.

Sealant, glazing beads and double glazing

If we replace the glass with double glazing, you get new glazing beads and a sealant joint that lasts another ten years. In listed buildings we use slim heritage glazing, so the old glazing bars can stay.

Questions about window frames

Which colour suits my house?

That is what our colour advice is for. In the city centre, off-white, canal green and oxblood red are the classics. On a listed building we also look at what was there historically.

Can I just change the colour of my window frames?

On an ordinary house, yes. In a protected townscape or on a listed building you sometimes need a permit. We check it for you before we start.

Our sash windows had been stuck for years. Now they open again, and the off-white with a hint of grey that Marloes suggested is just right with the old bricks.
